It's almost summer barbecue time.
Please make good times safe times.
Liquid petroleum gas or propane, used in gas grills, can cause fires and explosions. Charcoal grills give off deadly carbon monoxide. Please follow these safety tips from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission:
With gas grills, inspect the tubes that lead into the burner for blockage from insects or grease, and clear with a pipe cleaner or wire. Check hoses for cracking, brittleness, holes, and leaks. Make sure there are no sharp bends in the hose or tubing.
Check for gas leaks when you first turn your gas grill on. If you smell gas, turn it off immediately and call a qualified repair person; don't attempt to fix problems yourself.
When cooking: Move gas hoses away from hot surfaces and dripping hot grease ... do not wear loose clothing - it can catch fire ... have a fire extinguisher handy ... keep children and pets away until grill is off, cooled and shut off ... and shut off valves to propane tanks when not in use.
Never use a grill indoors, or in a garage, breezeway, carport, porch, or under a surface that can catch fire. Use at least 10 feet away from a house or other building.
Use Charcoal Grills only outside in the open air, and away from open windows or air conditioners. When charcoal burns, it gives off deadly carbon monoxide. CO is odorless and invisible. Never burn charcoals inside a house, garage, tent, or any enclosure.
