When it comes to safe and lean, are we 'on a roll' with each task?
The goals are safety, efficiency, a reduction of waste and cost, and full value that benefits the customer. A few questions that might arise from such a situation:
Is there a risk of a fall?
Are all the objects fully secure - or is possible that some could roll down and injure someone or get damaged?
Is the employee in an optimal position, with a secure stance? Or is he required to reach awkwardly, risking a sprain or a strain? Should this job be done with some type of mechanical lift?
Would this be the optimal point in the process for such labeling?
Would this be the best way to store inventory, preserve its quality - and get it out as soon as the customer needs it delivered?
Could any steps in the process be streamlined or eliminated because they add little value?
Is this the absolute best way to do this job? Do we always do OURS the best way, too?
