But it’s still not a job that you can do with your eyes closed. Ever.

Yet when your vision is blocked by a load that’s too tall, or if the lighting is very dim, it can be like driving blind.

In this situation, the two men at right included a first-day truck driver and a salesman. Neither understood that the forklift could suddenly swerve or that the lift operator couldn’t see clearly. This could have turned into a disaster.

Please don’t take risks: Always make sure when driving a lift that you have a 100% clear view … slow down in darker areas to give your eyes time to adjust … watch out for pedestrians … and never get complacent, no matter how much experience you may have.
