Please get off on the right foot – with every job!

The photographer said that this worker was ‘guiding a crane’ that was lowering a pillar. Unfortunately, the worker was not exactly in a stable position ­– he could have gone flying. He was wearing sneakers. He was under a suspended load, which should never happen. He did not appear to have fall protection. It was unclear whether he was able to communicate with the crane operator. Oh, and what was his co-worker’s role???

In this situation, perhaps a platform, fall protection, proper safety gear and a hands-free head set would have helped – not to mention a co-worker who knew how to say no.

Whatever the requirements of each job, please follow them. The more we gamble, the more we’re likely to run out of luck.
